Rita Dominic looked resplendent in her figure hugging black and gold lace dress. Her hair and makeup were flawless and she looked every bit the Nollywood starlet. Rita said:
“I’m always nervous ahead of a movie premiere. As an actor you only see the film for the first time at the premiere event so you’re always wondering how your performance is going to be received. During the movie the audience really enjoyed themselves. They reacted very well to all the key moments, laughing at the comedic scenes and expressing fear and shock during the dramatically tense sequences. At the end of the movie when the audience started clapping and cheering I was very happy indeed.”
It was lovely to see Nse Ikpe-Etim, star of Phone Swap also gracing the red carpet. She looked fabulous in a sexy black flowing gown. Other stars from the movie who were there included Anthony Ofoegbu, an accomplished television and stage actor in the UK, who makes his Nollywood debut as Chuks Oti in Streets of Calabar and Lisa Kill also from the UK who plays his love interest Margaret.
A whole slew of local actors in attendance included Chris Elvis, Mark Effiong, Mary-Anne Ochala and Janet Usimka.

“We wanted to give something back to the government and people of Cross River State as a way of saying thank you for all the support they gave to us during the filming of this movie so we decided that the best place to host the premiere had to be Calabar. It was a wonderful evening and the film ended with rousing applause. What more could one ask for?”
The movie focuses on two down on their luck scammers caught up in a web of scams, danger and murder. They become part of a covert police mission to stop a mysterious gangster from taking over the peaceful streets of Calabar. Critics say the movie’s strikingly original backdrop, darkly comic riff and tense, rollicking action-gangster-thriller portrait, make Streets of Calabar a world-class film, placing it at the pinnacle of the Nollywood movement.
Streets of Calabar is now out in cinemas across Nigeria.
